Hello! My name is Lisa Staples and I am excited to be working with PhillipsKidsTutoring this year!  I am originally from Carmel, NY and went to college at the State University of New York at Binghamton University.  I moved to Louisiana after I graduated through the program Teach for America.  I have four years  teaching experience in Early Childhood Education.  I love working with children and seeing the growth that can be achieved over a year.  I am eager to meet new families and perspective students.

I bring decades successful and progressive educational experience to PhillipsKidsTutoring. I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Southern University at New Orleans and a Masters Degree from the University of New Orleans, both are in education.  I am a lifelong learner, so it would not be a surprise that I enjoy reading and traveling.

Eliza Nelson -Tutor

My name is Eliza Nelson and I am excited to have this great opportunity to work with PhillipsKidsTutoring!! I am originally from Minnesota, but have made New Orleans my home now for almost 5 years. I have worked in public, charter, and non-profit education environments with Pre-K through high school students. There is a huge need for programs this that  partner with schools and families to help kids achieve to their fullest potential.  I look forward to partnering with you and growing together!

Sylvia Johnson-Tutor

I graduated from Xavier University of Louisiana with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry.  I have tutored and taught middle and high school sciences as well as reading for several years.  I believe it is an honor and a privilege to contribute to a students learning experience.  I love when a student overcomes a challenge faced in their academic pursuit.  Working with children is definitely the most rewarding experience and I take pride in my sessions with them.

Gina Bell-Tutor


Hi all PKT families! My name is Gina Bell and I'm originally from Saint Louis, Missouri. After earning a bachelor's degree in psychology, I decided to call New Orleans my home. This past May I recently graduated from University of New Orleans, earning a master's degree (MAT) and LA certification in Early Childhood Education. I am in my 4th year as a New Orleans educator, and currently teach first grade at a charter school in Orleans Parish.

My name is Sarah Fryoux and I am super excited to be working with PKT!  I was born and raised in Laplace, LA and spent majority of my childhood exploring the RIverparishes. I am currently in my senior year at Sourtheastern Louisiana University pursuing an accounting degree. I look forward t the many adventures that awaits!

Deanna Proctor-Tutor


I'm originally from Lansing, Michigan. I have been residing in New Orleans, La since the age of 1. I have been teaching throughout the greater New Orleans area for the past 21 years. I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Southern University at New Orleans. In May 2016, I received my Masters of Arts degree in Criminal Justice also from Southern University at New Orleans. I look forward to working with you and your scholars to become life long learners.

Jeannette Jamison-Tutor


Jeannette Jamison has taught reading and math to students with learning and behavior disabilities for 6 years.  She earned her undergraduate degree in Human Development and Family Sciences from Oregon State University and her M. Ed in Special Education from University of Missouri.  Jeannette has enjoyed living in New Orleans for the past three years.

Rebecca Milliman-Tutor


I am a seasoned teacher of 20 years of teaching in public schools. i mostly taught special education. I have enjoyed working with students who have numerous needs and exceptionalities such as ADHD, ADD, Autism, learning disabilities, and behavior issues. I am very excited to be able to work with and tutor students in an one on one setting, where I can help them achieve their own personal success and goals.

Stephanie Batres-Tutor


Hello my name is Stephanie Batres. I presently teach kindergarten. I have experience in working with children up to 2nd grade in ELA and Math. Being the first person in my family to have English as my first language, I also aid little ones that speak Spanish to communicate well with others whom speak English. I have viewed numerous kids that could not communicate well and I'm willing and ready to help them get on board. I'm very proud to be a part of PhillipsKidsTutoring and I hope to meet you soon.

Gabrielle Ohaya-Tutor


Hi my name is Gabrielle "Gabbi" Ohaya.  I was born and raised in Denver, CO before relocating to New Orleans in 2014. I attended Colorado State University for my BA and currently attends the University of New Orleans in pursuit of a career in Nurse Education. I've worked with children for the purpose of encouraging  a love for learning and continues to stay on that mission. I believe it is important that children are encouraged to celebrate their talents and strengths and their to work through their obstacles with patience and determination. My passion for learning also fuels my passion for teaching and I'm always happy to help children however I can.
